Paxton Is Now in Claude for Legal

Litigators need answers they can stand behind, often on a deadline.

Many attorneys already take legal questions to a general AI assistant like Claude. On its own, the assistant answers from what it learned in training. That isn't a legal research source, and in litigation, a citation no one can check puts the case at risk.

Today Anthropic launched Claude for Legal. Paxton is already in the Claude connector directory, so attorneys can bring Paxton's research into the Claude conversations they already have open.

How it works

Connect Paxton in Claude once and sign in with your Paxton account. Whenever your work needs the law, whether it's a research question, a case summary or an update for a client, Claude calls Paxton to find the authority and check citations, then writes with links to the sources it used.

Paxton gives Claude research tools including:

  • Legal research search: federal and state statutes, regulations and court rules
  • Case law search: federal and state court opinions, filtered by jurisdiction and date
  • Agency decisions: EEOC and NLRB decisions
  • Source text: the full text of any authority a search returns
  • Citator: cases cited by, cases citing, and case status
One connector, five research tools: legal research, case law, agency decisions, source text and citator

Built on Paxton's own research

The connector runs on the same research engine and citator that power the Paxton app. It's not a lightweight version. Paxton is building the most comprehensive collection of US legal materials, including agency material that was never text-searchable before, and more sources are added every month.

Bring Paxton's research to every matter

Once Paxton is connected, it's there for everything you do in Claude, not only when you sit down to research. You don't switch to a separate research tool, copy citations across, or wonder whether a case Claude mentioned is real. When Claude summarizes the authorities in an opposing brief, prepares talking points for a client call, or works through an argument with you, it can pull the governing authority from Paxton and cite it, so the work rests on law you can open and check.

Paxton will keep adding to what's available through the connection, and we'll share updates as they're ready.
